The Enterprising Communities Project ended in December 2014
What was Enterprising Communities?
Enterprising Communities was a project that provided practical support to voluntary sector organisations to help them become more sustainable, generate new income and successfully bid to deliver public services.
The project was funded by the Welsh Government and European Structural Funds (European Regional Development Fund), managed by WCVA and was delivered locally by Wales' network of County Voluntary Councils - PAVS in Pembrokeshire.
What sort of support did the project provide?
Through Enterprising Communities Officers based across Convergence areas, the project provided organisations with information and advice on funding, organisational management and volunteer development, as well as offering expertise around financial sustainability.
In practice this meant advice on organisational structures and business plans or implementing quality assurance systems and good employment practices. The project also helped organisations work with the public and private sectors to maximise opportunities for commissioning and procurement and work with organisations to identify new ways of generating income.
The project wasn't a grant fund but it helped organisations develop and build a more financially sustainable future. This work will continue via the PAVS' Learning & Development Team.
